Melisa Licenji Protection & Control Technical Services Engineering Intern at Hydro One Networks Inc. - 2016 - 2017 I believe taking on an internship work term is a good investment into your future self. The experience gained during work, helped me develop my skills as an engineer, leading a successful career. I believe gaining related work experience should be one of the high priorities for any future new grad. While taking a work term, you can develop your communication skills and network with various professionals. Life at Hydro One was not only about work, but also about people relationships. During my time there I joined multiple clubs as "The Charity Campaign", " WTTE (Women in Trade Technology& Engineering)" and "PiE (People in Energy)". Also, I travelled to different transformer station sites where I could see my work office knowledge in its physical form. Having an internship is an amazing opportunity to any student that is interested in trying the everyday work of an engineer. Females are encouraged to join internships even more. Hydro One supports women in engineering through amazing scholarships and every step of the way during their internship. It is always worth a shot. School is not going anywhere, why not take a break and go out in the real world. After all, who would not want to make some money while still in school?
